Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.
John 4:23 NIV
What kind of worshiper are you?
Matthew 20 tells the story of a mother, who just wanted to have her two sons taken care of. She wanted James and John to sit to the left and right of Jesus in his kingdom. Verse 20 says that the mother came to Jesus and “kneeling down, asked a favor of him.”
How often do you kneel down, only to ask a favor from God?
In John 14:6, Jesus said: “I am the way, the truth and the life.” He is the truth. We are to worship him and him alone. Worship isn’t a way to plead for what you want; worship is a way to show adoration to the One who created you, and sent His son to die for you.
In many blog posts, I talk about the importance of the motive of the heart. This case is no different. Search your heart for the motive of your worship.
