How do you start your mornings? Some prefer a hearty breakfast while others just need that first cup of coffee. Personally, I like smoothies. What about after that? Shower, Hair, Makeup for the ladies, and then you put on your clothes.
Now what about our spiritual clothing. Colossians 3:12-14 says:
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.”
At my church, we say this scripture every week. It’s said so often that it’s easy to forget. Some of these virtues are harder than others. For me, I have trouble showing compassion, kindness, and gentleness when the kids at work are driving me crazy or when my fiancé does the things he knows get under my skin.
Just something to think about in the morning as you go through your day. Just like we have to clothe our body before going out into the world, we also have to clothe our spirit.
